The five payment companies have formed an alliance to give merchants guidelines to managing their data security. While no method has proven to be 100%, there are a few mandated steps that each merchant must take to be in compliance with the Industry Best Practices.
Below are the minimum guidelines that must be followed by each merchant regardless of their method of processing payment cards. In a few words, if you use payment cards (credit or debit or both) for payment, you must follow the industry rules.
